CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH
1st OCT 2006 - UPDATE
Altrincham Football Club was the venue for a very special charity game on Sunday October 1st.
The Manchester City OLD BOYS team faced an All Star XI to raise funds for the KIDNEYS FOR LIFE charity which is based at the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI).
The City team included the likes of Peter Barnes, Asa Hartford, Andy Morrison.
The Moss Lane gates opened at 12 noon for a range of pre match family entertainments. As well as a huge raffle and tombola, the charity had also lined up a band, face painters, circus skills performers and giant mascots.
The event raised £3100 which was a fantastic result. The monies raised from the game will enable the renal unit at the MRI to provide funding for both research and direct patient amenities. Its research plan over the next five years will focus on three main areas :
- Preserving native kidney function by slowing down kidney failure.
- Re providing limited kidney function through dialysis treatment.
- Restoring kidney function through transplantation.
Anyone interested in supporting the charity should contact Caroline Siddall, the Kidneys For Life fundraising manager, on 0161 276 6671 or by email at caroline.siddall@cmmc.nhs.uk.
